Town Enforces Deer Feeding Bylaw

Since it's introduction in 2009, the Town of Princeton has been actively enforcing it's deer feeding bylaw. It wasn't until August, 2008 that municipalities had the authority to regulate the feeding of deer.

In 2008 the provincial government introduced a regulation that provided municipalities the authority to regulate deer feeding.

We could use your help. If a Bylaw Enforcement Officer does not witness the contravention of a bylaw, it is often difficult to enforce the bylaw without the assistance of the public. With the deer feeding bylaw, should a member of the public witness the feeding of deer, they are encouraged to record dates, times and details (including pictures) and report this to Town Hall and the Bylaw Enforcement Officer at 250-295-3135.

The public is also encouraged to call the Ministry of Environment, 24 hours a day to report wildlife conflict concerns. The public can call 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) to report incidents of human-wildlife conflict or to report a violation of provincial regulations or legislation.
